Starlings on the Shore was made as part of a suite of linocuts made by Mark in a small edition of 20. Along with 'Sea Change' and 'Geese and Fish' these prints were some of the first linocuts to be printed by the Penfold Press. The finished prints were exhibited in Mark's first solo show at Godfrey and Watt and are featured within Mark's 'Work Book' published by Merrell in 2012.
